EARLY 1900'S
Leamington Carnival began, organised by the Leamington Carnival Committee which had around 20 members.
JULY 1976
Carnival Street taking record - brought in more than £500. Around 50,000 people lined the street to watch the Procession.
JULY 1984
Carnival was the largest & longest procession so far,
MAY 1988
Carnival disco held at Leamington Town Hall, £1 entry fee. Carnival Queen and her attendants attended.
JULY 1989
Carnival raised £650.00 and was a great success!
JULY 1996
Last Carnival Procession held.
JULY 1997
A scaled down version of the carnival took place in the Pump Room Gardens. There was a funfair and summer stalls but no procession because organisers couldn't drum up enough support. Only 3 members were on the Carnival Committee. Future of the carnival was uncertain.
JULY 1998
Last Carnival Fete was held in Pump Room Gardens, there was no procession.
NOVEMBER 1998
Due to lack of interest the Carnival Association was wound up at a meeting on Thursday 19 November.
THE LAST CARNIVAL WAS HELD IN 1996 & LASTED FOR A FURTHER 2 YEARS AS A FETE IN PUMP ROOM GARDENS.
